He loves the music and the energy from this show. I had forgotten how great Trini was until I listened to some of the cuts on this CD before purchasing for my uncle. There's a second CD, More Trini Lopez at PJ's, that is just about as good and, for me, a must have if you like his music.5/5(3).

On Trini Lopez at PJ’s, Lopez covered mostly popular folk, pop, and R&B songs in his own upbeat, Latin-flavored rendition. The tracks on the LP include “A-me-ri-ca,” “Bye Bye Blackbird,” “What’d I Say,” “This Land Is Your Land,” “La Bamba,” “When the Saints Go Marching In,” “Volare,” and his first hit “If I Had a Hammer.”.

Oct 01,  · The Very Best of Trini Lopez features 16 tracks of commercial music's favorite folkie (circa August ), including several of his hits but none of them in versions listeners will recognize from the Hit Parade. Instead, this Prism Leisure compilation offers latter-day, probably live recordings that are just as good for leading a campfire singalong as the originals, but still not the equal of.

Oct 30,  · In my opinion this was Trini Lopez most popular album of his entire career. Recorded live in during one of Trini's memorable performances at PJs in Texas, and released by Frank Sinatra's "Reprise" label, this CD a must have for all Trini Lopez and .

This was the album that made Lopez explode nationally, reaching number two, staying in the Top 40 LP charts for about a year, and yielding the hit "If I Had a Hammer." All of this seems to have been largely forgotten today, but at the time Lopez was ubiquitous indeed. What he did, at the head of a trio with Mickey Jones (later to play briefly with Bob Dylan) on drums and Dick Brant on bass.
